On Saturday Bob left us unexpectedly due to heart failure; he put it into everything so it must have gotten very tired. He leaves a legacy of love behind, especially the Big Love he shared for 53 years with Maria.
He carries on through his son Todd (Kay) & grandchildren Nick, Jodie, Emily, Thomas, Georgia; daughter Briana (Will) and granddaughter Helena; sister and brother in-law Nelly and Lloyd Carmichael, and family in England and Ukraine.
An adventurer, Bob’s work in the Coast Guard took him to West Africa, then after switching to sales for several years, his return to the Coast Guard took him to the Arctic. He loved the sea, and he loved helping people. When the Queen of the North sank, he offered trauma debriefing and gave away all his socks to surviving passengers. He loved making people laugh, was deeply proud of his family, and stayed curious. His passion for creating, gardening, exploring the world, and his community were limitless.
He used to read the obits and say “a lot of people die on Saturdays!” He wasn’t one to follow trends but we guess he liked that one. When asked how he was doing, his response was always “Dangerously well” with a big cheeky smile. We miss it.
Service: First Memorial 4725 Falaise Dr, Victoria, BC V8Y 1B4 on July 8th at 10am (will also be live streamed). Bob loved bright colours; we invite you to incorporate them into your attire in his honour.
