Robert was looked after by the amazing nursing staff and doctors of the Duncan Hospital, then in Victoria at the Victoria General Hospital, and Royal Jubilee Hospital, spending his final three weeks in Jubilee Hospice. We appreciate how they dignified what remained of his life.
Bob was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan to Robert Morrison & Lois Johnson nee Mills in 1945.
Bob married Gail Bates in 1963. Together they had 3 daughters. He later remarried in 1979 to Beryl May nee Taylor nee Arnold. They had 1 daughter together. In 1999 they relocated themselves to Victoria, BC where many hours were spent at Esquimalt Lagoon eating their lunch and being mesmerized by the ocean.
Bob was the kind of person you took to right away, very approachable, had an easy smile, told a lot of jokes, found humour in almost everything, and had the greatest blast laugh which was contagious. In his younger days in Saskatchewan, he enjoyed snowmobiling, winning a trophy or two. He enjoyed bike riding, singing in the church choir, martial arts "Aikido", making furniture and treasure boxes for his girls in his workshop, and playing around with photoshop programs putting people's faces in and on unusual situations, an example being one of his granddaughters riding a unicorn in a very fluffy tutu.
He tried his hands at many things, working in a bakery, learning different trades in the pre-building stages of construction, reading blueprints and figuring out down to the nail what was required and eventually becoming a logistic manager for Northern Eau Clair Construction Materials. Later he chose to slow down a bit and worked at Home Depot in Calgary, and then in Victoria. He retired for a year to look after his wife, before her passing he worked a short while at Capital Iron.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert Morrison, Lois (nee Mills) Johnson, stepdad Walt Johnson, sister Bonnie Klippert, his beloved wife Beryl Morrison, and his best buddy his dog Fanny.
Bob is survived by his children Kimberley (Cam), Colleen (Steve), Barbara (Chad), Donna (Robert), his stepchildren Deborah (Michael), Susan (David), Stephen (Eve), Warwick (Kim), 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his two sisters Colina (William), and Patricia (Richard), along with their extended families.
As per Robert's request, a private family celebration will be held in Victoria.
