Bob was born in Nova Scotia in the summer of 1935. He joined a large family of Mom, Dad and 8 brothers and sisters. His passion for learning and travel came to light early as he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952. Over the next 20 years he engaged in a military career that included several vocation changes and took him and his beloved wife Patricia (Pat) all over Canada along with several years in Europe. He loved to tell the story of meeting Pat in England in 1955 when he went from Belgium to Nottingham to fix a plane. He often described their meeting as the luckiest and best day of his life, and they shared 67 years of marriage. Not long after leaving the RCAF, Bob joined the BC government’s avionics division where he worked until he retired. Bob loved to travel and was an enthusiast of European hostel travel well into his senior years. He was an industrious fellow and could fix, build, or restore virtually anything. As a father and grandpa Bob was ‘top drawer’! His loving support and positive outlook are gifts his children and grandchildren will benefit from for years to come. For them ‘Bob’ will always stand for ‘best of bunch’. He was a proud Canadian and a wholehearted fan of the beauty of Vancouver Island.
Bob was predeceased by his mother Florence, father William, brothers Ron, Norm, Bill and Joe, sisters Florence and Mary, and grandson, Josh.
Bob is survived by his wife Pat, children Carol (Bernard), Dean and Lisa, grandchildren Chase, Brianne, Shaleah (Brenndon), and Felipe, great granddaughter Cyenna, and sisters Teresa and Eleanor.
A Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held in February.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
