Survived by his partner Lynne of 29 years, sons Michael of Lethbridge, and David (Hilary) of Victoria, granddaughters Brandi, Ashley of Calgary, Olivia and Sophia, Victoria. Predeceased by oldest son Roy (Joanne) of Calgary.
Ray loved his life. He loved his Bralorne roots and the many friends who retained lifelong connections through annual reunions. He loved his ex-students from the Heavy Duty course at Camosun. He loved time shared with friends at the VCC, curling and golfing. He loved weekend jazz at Hermanns, particularly the Canus Dixieland Jazz band. He loved close friends, 50s cars, and dogs. He was grateful to friends John and Larry and his curling teams for making it possible for him to curl and golf to the end of his life, and to Don for his daily “medical checkups”. He was always thankful to his doc, David Atwell, and assistant Sheila for their unfailing care, and to his special friends Mary Sangha (Calgary), and Brian Grey (Toronto), and to special dogs Casey, Benny and Ricky.
Ray is best remembered having his daily beer, with a big grin and a toast, saying “I’m a lucky guy!”
A celebration of Ray's life will be held at The Esquimalt Curling Club (Archie Browning Sports Centre) 1151 Esquimalt Rd. on March 23rd from 1-3pm. Parking in back.
