He had a benevolent character that made a lasting impression on all the lives he touched. His pride was his wife Molly, the life they built over 68 years together and the lasting legacy of the house from a foundation dug by hand to bring up a family raised with his love and adoration. He had a passion for farming with six decades of cows, horses, corn, and his favourite; the beans. He had a love for animals and for many years was not seen without a German Shepherd by his side or a chickadee on his shoulder. He was humble and bright, with a warm smile, he relished a great conversation, teasing grandchildren, and was rarely seen in “his spot” without cards for a game of crib or a pencil for his daily crossword. He was a nostalgic story teller of a life anything but mundane. From a vagabond riding the rails, the fairest of police officers with a ticket book still full of tickets, a tractor trailer driver on a single lane Malahat made of mud, a pilot, and a self-taught dynamite expert.
