Louise, Larry, Cathy, Linda and Gary: apologies for my late message. I remember my Auntie Pearl as a very cool person! So artistic, creative and fun!  I remember her beautiful garden in Penticton and the amazing house she had a hand in building on Lockside in Victoria.   I remember her teaching me hiw to make beads when I was in Edmonton. What a capable and also imaginative person she was.  I am so sorry for your loss and I treasure memories of her. 

Hi Larry and Cathy,

I'm thinking of you today and wishing I could blink and be there, then blink myself back home again.

Pearl was such a dear friend to me. I've come to believe we are very lucky if we can find kindred spirits within our biological families. I did not find one in the family I grew up in, nor in the one I gave birth to, but I did find one in Pearl.

I have heaps of memories of things we did together and talked about, things I learned from her and things she said I taught her. There has been so one else in my life I have shared so many interests with. She helped me with sewing projects and taught me to mix concrete to build a rock wall. I helped with her garden and taught her to make sushi. We loved the same camp songs since we both worked at summer camps in the 7O's although she was a mother then and I was a teenager. We worked as a team to teach Sunday school and she played her mandolin every week. We celebrated birthdays, Christmases, Easter and Thanksgiving as a family and when David was dying, Pearl sat by his side everyday of the last week holding his hand, cooling him with ice water, and humming songs to keep him aware that he was loved.

The last few times I visited Pearl - at Slugget house and then at Broadmead, I had no doubt that she knew on some level that I was someone who knew and loved her. I have lasting memories of those times too that I cherish. 

I feel so blessed to have had Pearl in my life and that my children had her as a mentoring elder. She was such a welcoming and giving person. My inspiration for a way to live my life too.

We love her, and miss her.

I hope you will sing and laugh today in memories of Pearl.

I only have wonderful memories of Pearl (Buttons).  What fun she was at camp! I was her director in training one week and I learned lots.  My prayers are with you, Louise, and the rest of your family.  Laurie

The obituary was well written and the picture is as I remember her.  I talked with your Mom often during my many visits to the Lochside Drive home.  Always alert, cheery and engaging.  These are the memories I will keep.
 Although a loss may be anticipated, it can still be painful when it happens.  Please pass along our condolences to the family.

Larry that is  a very nice obituary for Pearl and thank you for sending it to me. She certainly had a happy life and really did enjoy her family. She was a most capable person and could turn her hand to many things. I was always so impressed that she could make beautiful suits for you and Eric. I am glad that Bill and I knew her. You were all very good about visiting her and helping her and I am glad that she slipped away peacefully. I am sure that you will miss her and it does indeed leave a gap in the family but I know that you are left with many happy memories.
I would like to attend her service and thank you for giving me the date and time.
I am truly sorry Larry but you have been a very good son which I hope will be a comfort to you.
