Patricia (Pat) was the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Lucas) Chapman. She was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, where she resided for several more decades. In 1958, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen's University and married Donald Polson. After a brief tenure teaching physical education at Patterson High School, she focused her full-time attention on raising her three children, David, Nancy, and Jamie. In 2000, inspired by the birth of her first grandson, she moved across Canada from Windsor to Victoria, BC, to experience the joys of being a grandmother firsthand. Throughout her remaining years, she was a constant and loving presence in the lives of her two grandsons, Luke and Dan, both of whom meant the world to her.
Pat was a woman of many passions: a lifelong sports fan, and a lover of music, musicals, and movies. She likely holds the world record for times having watched the movie “The Notebook,” at last count well over 100! To her grandsons’ schoolmates she was known as the “Tic Tac Lady,” whereas to fellow sports fans, “the Red Wing Lady.”
Pat will be deeply missed by her children, David (Angela), Nancy (Neil) and Jamie (Mim); grandchildren, Luke and Dan; nephew Bruce (Jackie) McLeod; brother-in-law, Dave McLeod; and 3 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Pat is predeceased by her sister Carol McLeod, and her nephew Doug McLeod.
A celebration of life event for relatives and close friends will be held in Victoria later this year.
