He was predeceased by his wife Gloria (nee Caselton), brother David, sisters Monica and Joyce, and his partner of 6 years, Edna Sullivan.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Karen Charbonneau (Norman) and Jane Rich (Neil), grandchildren Sarah Locke (Evan), Graham Charbonneau, Adrienne Rich, Fraser Rich, and great grandchildren Eko and Ilo Locke, as well as several nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends Bob and Ann Callow.
Dad was a native Victorian growing up in the Fairfield and Swan Lake areas of Victoria. He met his wife Gloria at Vic High School at the young age of 17 and 5 years later they were married and spent 54 wonderful years together.
Dad obtained his CGA designation which aided him in a very successful career with BC Hydro and the BC Provincial Government. Dad retired at 55 years old as Systems Director for the BC Medical Services Plan.
Dad enjoyed many hobbies and interests over the years, including traveling, sailing, genealogy, gardening and table tennis at Monterey Centre, to name a few. He also volunteered for the many organizations that he was involved with. Dad was very devoted to his family and will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, wisdom and fierce independence and was a gentleman in every sense of the word. Dad had a life well lived and will remain in our hearts forever.
Many thanks to the medical team at the Respiratory and Palliative Care Units at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their compassionate care of Dad.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Saturday, November 25th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted to your charity of choice.
