Meredith was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Dunsmuir, and her father, Flemming Jorgensen, who passed in 1964 and 2009, respectively. Although deeply saddened to be leaving her family and friends, who had impacted her life so profoundly, she found great solace in knowing she would be reunited with her parents once again.
Meredith is survived by her Husband, Cedric Steele; her four children, Jesse Crawford (Tasha), Ashley Crawford (Chaz), Alex Zaparinuk, and Mark Zaparinuk; as well as her three grandchildren, Anson, Cullen, and Calihan. She also leaves behind her stepmother Ana Albano, brother Mark Clarke, sister Selina Jorgensen, brother Max Boas and sister Victoria Hostland. Special acknowledgement should be paid to Dola and Charlie Boas, who took Meredith in when she needed them most.
Growing up on Vancouver Island, Meredith was proud to call Victoria home. She was a bookkeeper and homemaker, and later found her passion as a fitness trainer and business owner. She loved fashion, gardening, baking, hosting dinner parties, and playing with her adorable cats. Meredith was deeply engaged with the art and history of her community, spurred by interest in her vast family history. Blessed with a unique and loving extended family, Meredith always had an excuse to go abroad. Her love of travelling motivated her to experience a vast array of cultures around the globe.
Meredith was happiest when giving back to others, and anyone fortunate enough to receive her hospitality can attest to the attention and care she showed to make you feel right at home. Whether she was organizing family gatherings, supporting her children at sporting events, or simply catching up over a cup of tea, Meredith always brightened any room she entered and enriched the lives of the people around her. The positive energy and unconditional love she brought into our lives is irreplaceable, and will be sorely missed.
Her final resting place will be at Ross Bay Cemetery with her mother.
