It is with heavy hearts we announce that Kay Rogers passed away on August 19, 2024. She was surrounded by family, and will be dearly missed by her children Nikki (John), Steven (Robin), Susan and Shelley (David), twelve grandchildren and and nine great-grandchildren.
Kay was born and raised in Duncan, BC. An educator for many years, she gave her heart and soul teaching the children of Port Renfrew. Many of her students remember her with fond memories, including her own kids who would run home to present her with report cards she herself wrote.
After school hours and also well after she retired from teaching, Kay gave her time freely to those in need, both inside and outside of the family circle. After marrying and raising her children in the close-knit community of Port Renfrew, Kay spent time in Lake Cowichan, Mackenzie, Victoria and Duncan, making for a sometimes complicated but otherwise fulfilling life.
Kay was a voracious reader, skilled knitter and master of crossword puzzles. She loved music, and was well known to tear up a dance floor at any number of occasions.
Later in life, one of Kay’s greatest treasures and companions was her dog Daisy. They shared many great years together, and have no doubt now been reunited.
Kay’s final years were more difficult ones on account of losing her sight to glaucoma. Nevertheless, she kept her spirit of positivity and sassy good humour. Until the very end, Kay always maintained strong relationships with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for whom she had unwavering love and held in the highest regard.
Kay is predeceased by her parents, two sisters, brother and son Norman. She loved and was loved, and will be forever missed but never forgotten. To Kay, Mom, Gram and Nana, we bid a fond farewell and trust we’ll meet again.
