Judy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was fiercely dedicated to her family and close friends but cared deeply for all people. Thoughtful, strong and independent with a sharp sense of humour, Judy was modest about her many achievements.
Born and raised in Burnaby, Judy worked in child welfare as a social worker for almost 30 years. She began her career in Trail and Vancouver before settling in Victoria with husband Ron in 1967. She found her 20 years placing adoptions particularly fulfilling.
Judy enjoyed the many trips she and Ron took with family and friends over the years, close to home and around the world. She was a voracious reader and a lover of music, theatre and art, and always up for a board or card game with family and friends. An excellent cook, Judy was always exploring new recipes.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Nellie Fulton, her brother Jim and her sister-in-law, Shelagh. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Ron, her children Matt (Claire) and Michael (Diana), grandchildren Elliott and Oscar, brothers Gordon (Sheila) and Brian (Diane), and sister-in-law Pat.
Special thanks to the public health staff, her personal care aide, and the ALS Society and Red Cross, all of whom helped Judy to maintain her quality of life as long as possible.
No funeral is planned but a commemoration will be organized at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the ALS Society or Osteoporosis Canada.
