Born in Victoria on June 29, 1940 he leaves his loving wife Lynn (Lomas), daughter Wendy Dunn (Ian), son Lonny, and grandchildren Tanner and Stephanie. Also leaves behind sister Janet Broadhurst, brother Sid (Pat) and many nieces and nephews.
John served his shipwright apprenticeship beginning in 1957 with Yarrows Shipyard (later Vic Ship) and as Dockmaster docked many ships, fish boats and barges in the dry dock. He worked into his 70s and enjoyed every minute of it. Oh the stories…
He loved cooking and gardening, spending hours and hours in the garden. Always had a moment to chat, especially with the neighbours on Derby and Tall Tree. He had lots of stories about his youth, early years on the Old West Road and great times at Prospect Lake and on family vacations - Corbetts, Girardaus and Tylers
Over the years John enjoyed camping and fishing and more recently, Wednesday golf and coffee with his buddies. He also liked watching Blue Jays and Canucks games, tuning into every game he was available for.
John loved every moment he spent with his grandkids (making countless amounts of pancakes along the way) and relished the years watching their sports and seeing them grow up.
John and Lynn enjoyed numerous vacations including sunny holidays and Saratoga with kids and grandkids, trips to Phoenix and many, many cruises.
John will also be missed by extended family and a great group of friends, including the lunch bunch.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 24 First Memorial on 4725 Falaise Drive.
