Joan was born in Vancouver, BC where she grew up and attended school up through university, where she met her husband, Perry; whom she married in the summer of 1961. Joan was a very smart, and academically gifted, woman; and became a wonderful primary school teacher, passing along her love of learning.
Joan had many passions and hobbies, and enjoyed spending time with her friends. She loved playing board games and Bridge on game nights with Perry and her friends, was part of a book club, loved and cared for many family cats and dogs growing up, and enjoyed cruises and travelling to Europe and the Mediterranean.
Joan and Perry moved to Ottawa in 1965, where their sons Christopher and Roland were born, before moving back to Victoria BC, in 1977.
Joan passed away in her residence at Parkwood Court in the morning of August 8th, surrounded by loved ones. She is predeceased by her parents, Roland and Anne Remillard. She is survived by her loving husband Perry; her sons Roland (Patricia) and Christopher (Francesca); and grandchildren Fiorella, Helena, and Tristan.
There will be a Reception held at First Memorial Funeral Services at 1155 Fort Street in Victoria BC, on Monday August 26th at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked any donations to be gifted in her honour, to be made to the BCSPCA.
