Jean went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior, lovingly surrounded by family, in her 'home on the hilltop'. Jean was born in the wee town of Wishaw, Scotland. Following her Dad's passing, she and her wee Mum immigrated to Canada, living in Edmonton, Ladysmith, and here in Victoria. She met and married her first husband Doug Sutherland. Following his passing Jean continued caring for her Mum, until she passed away at 101. Jean worked in a Dr. Horton's office for 20 years and later on at Lambrick Park Church. lt was here she met and married the love of her life, Harvey Hersom. They enjoyed 17 years, a match made in heaven. Harvey passed away 8 years ago. Jean lived each day of her life delighting in the Lord, living graciously and full of compassion and mercy for others. Not having children of her own, Jean became Mom to so many of us, far too many to mention. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Meg and James Carswell; her first husband Doug Sutherland; Aunties Jenny, Jean, Susan and Uncle John; her second husband Harvey Hersom and his sister Naomi Hersom. She is survived by her niece in Edmonton, Jeannie, Harvey's daughter Margaret (Ian) and his son Doug (Kelly) and families. Please join us as we Celebrate the Life of Jean at Lambrick Park Church, on Thursday, October 3rd at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Imadene.
