Until the end, Ivan always had a laugh, smile or joke to share with those around him.
Born in Trimley St. Martin, England, Ivan immigrated to Vancouver with his family in his teens. He served in the RCAF where he developed a lifelong love of flying, travel, and geography. After serving, he moved to Richmond where he raised his family and spent his career with BC Tel before retiring to Victoria in 1995 to be near his sons and their families.
In his retirement, Ivan pursued his lifelong hobbies of genealogy and gardening, transforming his Cordova Bay home into a beautiful oasis to be shared with family and friends. He devoted much of his retirement to raising his grandsons, just as he had been raised by his grandfather during WWII.
Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Ruby, his sons Gary (Anne) and David (Heather) and grandsons Spencer and Malcolm. Always a big kid at heart, Ivan was devoted to family and will be remembered for the kind, loving and humorous man he was.
