After a brief battle with cancer, Irene passed away in hospice on Monday, May 24, 2021, with her family by her side.
Irene was born, raised, and eventually married in Quebec. She married her husband Brian in 1959, and they moved their young family to Victoria B.C. in October 1970.
She worked for the federal government for 35 years before retiring in 1993. She was proud to have her 25-year service plaque signed by Pierre Trudeau.
She was an avid bowler and fisherwoman in the '70s and '80s; the latter saw her travel the world with various derby wins. In later years Brian and Irene vacationed annually in Puerto Vallarta and made friends with a number of people from various parts of Canada and the USA. They also took in many Seattle Mariner games over the years.
Irene volunteered many hours with the RCL and held the position of Sick and Visiting Officer, which was something she loved doing
Survived by husband of 62 years, Brian, daughter Sue (Don), and son Bill.
As well as her Brother Rodolphe (Laurina) Pilon and many much-loved nieces and nephews in Quebec and Ontario.
There will not be a service by request of the family; instead, there will be a private family interment on June 16th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
