A special family of men in my life.  Thank you George, Wayne and Dale for sharing your lives, hopes and dreams in a very special way!
George you are the rock of this family with love overwhelming and always willing to share including your wonderful boys when it came to campfire time at Sylvan Acres. Love to you all!!!

So many memories of Lad, as we called him, come up front in my mind. We spent many Christmas’s and holidays together over the years of our families growing up. Although some circumstances caused the relationship to be strained over the years, we have many great get together we talk about. 
One of my memories, is Lad introducing me to venison on the barbecue.  After that we were totally hooked and became a hunting family. Everything Lad did was to perfection, including his amazing garden and his knowledge of carpentry and overseeing the buildings at Sylvan Acres camp and the Baptist Church. 
He was an understanding, sympathetic, knowledgeable man.
Your family and friends will miss you dearly Lad but you have left behind a legacy. May you Rest In Peace and know that your family will take over what you left behind.

Rest in peace George as you are now home with Willie. After knowing you for about 50 years plus you are like family. I remember all the good times we had together and will forever cherish them.  I will miss that twinkle in your eye.  My condolences to your sons Wayne (Kathy), Dale (Michelle), grandchildren, great granddaughter and sister Evelyn and the rest of the family. You will always be remembered as a gentle kind father, grandfather, brother, and friend! You will be forever missed.

So sorry for the family's loss - I recall George & Willie from when I was a youngish child.  He and my parents (Erwin & Evelyn Lokken) shared many years of faith, work & fun together at Douglas St Baptist, Royal Oak Baptist & Sylvan Acres Baptist Camp in North Saanich.  I also recall happy events at the house on Burnside.  My younger days were enhanced by events with George & Willie, and for that, I thank them both. George’s Life Journey
George (Laddie) was born in Victoria on January 18, 1935, to Nettie and Tom Cooper. He grew up with his brother, Bob, and sister, Evelyn. During his youth he was raised in Victoria BC. George graduated from Vic High in 1953.
Wilma & George became acquainted at the Inter Church Youth Groups of Victoria. They were married September 28, 1956, at Douglas Street Baptist Church by Rev. Jim Barton.
George retired in 1989, having worked 35 years for the Province of BC.  Using land surveys and aerial photos he drew maps for BC. Dad advanced his education to receive a diploma in Management from VIU.  This led to other roles, one of them being the Administration Officer and Co-ordinator of the Outdoor Recreation Safety Awareness Program, for BC.
George and Willie created and shared a loving home that hosted many guests. They raised sons Wayne (b.1962) and Dale (b.1964) and involved the boys as they helped on projects and church. When the boys, Wayne (Kathy), Dale (Michelle) married, they extended their love and care to their partners. They loved their grandchildren Elizabeth (Patrick) and David, Gareth and Kaytlyn. George had visits from his Great-Granddaughter Madilyn, born in November 2021 to Elizabeth and Patrick.
George shared his skills and assisting with the building and operation of Douglas Street Baptist, Royal Oak Baptist and Elk Lake Baptist Churches. He also dedicated many years to Sylvan Acres Baptist Camp. Many people have let us know that they appreciated his contribution to the project or task they had going at the time. Dad enjoyed the fellowship working together with others. Wilma and George enjoyed trailer camping and salmon fishing together and made many new friends.
George’s wife Wilma completed her journey of life on July 26, 2018. George’s health had many challenges that he met and overcame. In March 2022 he received another diagnosis of Cancer and could no longer continue living in the home that he and Wilma had since 1959.

Memories are treasures encircling our hearts.  George was an inspiration  and steadfast rock in my life, he had a way of helping me get through serious situations by sitting down  talking, smiling, winking and a good strong hug would always make me feel better and think of a good solution.  
George was always busy from morning til night if he knew what night was as he studied til two or three in the morning. Remembering his favorite hobby of deer hunting returning to hang it under the deck right beside the stairwell until it was chopped, ground and sausaged up for the freezer.  George will always have a special place in me as I continue my journey through life.  Enjoy being with Wilma give her a hug for me.      Love Anne

George came from a family of dedicated church volunteers.  If you knew him you felt compelled to  volunteer as well. 
 As a young teen I spent countless Saturdays helping  clear the land in order to develop Sylvan Acres Baptist Camp.  Somehow George (Laddie) made hard work fun.  George's mom Nettie  was my CGIT leader and George was my Baptist Young Peoples Leader for years.  When he thought of quitting after he married Willie I told him he could not as there wasn't anyone else to fill his shoes.  George and Willie hosted many meetings and social gatherings in their home.  They were treasured family friends and will always be remembered for their constancy, their faith, their reliability, their dedication.   Thanks George for setting such a good example to me and all the many young people that passed your way!

 Lad, as he was known, introduced me to experiences that my own father did not. I E, salmon fishing and learning basic carpentry. I was only about 12 and  Lad would ask me to come help build all the cabins and main building at the Sylvan Acres Baptist Camp out on Lands End Rd, that he was overseeing construction. As I recall, Lad was directly responsible for the majority of the building. Also, Lad continues to keep me occupied with the building of the new Baptist church, at that time. I helped as much as a 12 year old boy could help but I learned a lot. I recall many family dinners at his place and will always respect him as a very caring and giving man. Rest In Peace, Lad.
