Donald Beise died on December 6, 2020, eight days after his 93rd birthday. Don worked as a logging foreman and manager for most of his career, where he was determined to provide safe work environments for employees, to replant the forests, and to keep clear the creeks to facilitate salmon spawning. He had great respect for the earth and a kind regard for all living things.
Don enjoyed good health for most of his life, and he lived to the fullest. He fished on the west coast on the Christine H, flew his aerobatic Citabria with great joy; and travelled North America on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Don was a sentimental man who laughed from the belly and cried openly when moved. An accomplished clarinetist, his love for music was shared with his family on Sunday mornings when classical recordings were played on the revered stereo and stories about the music kept his children captivated and engaged.
Mostly though, Don is remembered for the unwavering love and support he offered to his children, Jim and Janet, and his grandchildren Scott, Adrienne, Nolan, Riley, and Shauna. His faith in their abilities gave them faith in themselves, an invaluable gift.
He will be dearly missed.
