Dale (Smitty) passed away on July 5th, 2021 on CCGS Vector. He was born in Edmonton, Alberta May 9th, 1960.
Dale was the third son in a family of four boys and one girl. It was a busy happy family with much laughter. At 18 he joined the Navy to travel and see the world. The list is long, Europe, Persian Gulf, Australia, New Zealand, and Chile to name just a few. Having served 20 years, he then joined the Coast Guard for 21 years. He was always smiling, loved pranks and jokes, and was adored and cherished by all who knew him.
Dale is survived by his parents, Erwin and Shirley Schmidt, brothers Wayne (Sandy), Albert (Laurie), Jerry and his sister Heather (Les). He is also survived by his loving wife Shelagh, daughters Alex and Sophi(a), 5 nieces and 5 nephews.
A private service is being held for family and close friends.
