It is with sad hearts we share the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Bette Hammond. Bette will be missed by her four children, Marie Thorleifson, Guy Boissonneault, Michel Boissonneault and Anne Eastham as well as by her 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Sadly her grandson Adrian Boissonneault pre-deceased her.
Bette grew up in Ottawa with her four (4) sisters and their mother. They all loved their summer holidays at Constance Bay.
Bette was a dancer extraordinaire and often attended the dances for service men during WW2 which is where she met her husband to be. Yvon Boissonneault. They were married on September 20, 1947. As the wife of an airman she experienced Canada from coast to coast and stop in-between.
On camping trips she treated us to blueberry pies cooked in a camp oven over our Coleman stove. Yum.
Bette started working at 17 in the typing pool for the Government of Canada in Ottawa. Over the years she worked her way up to Executive Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture in Ottawa.
All her life she was a knitter. Her socks are legend and will be treasured until they can no longer be darned.
