Amrik, affectionately known as Miko, was born on July 12, 1948 in the village of Abheypur, in the state of Punjab, India to Ran Singh and Ajmer Kaur. There are not enough words in the English language to describe this beautiful human being. All who truly knew her say she had a profoundly open heart, matched only by her open table. Her life was by no means an easy one, but where others would have hardened, she grew only more generous.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of over 45 years, Joginder, and her four children: Raj, Sherry, Minnie, and Navdeep. Though she may have given birth to four children, she was mom to many. She often said that she was proud of all her children, but in truth it is all of us who are so extremely proud to have been able to call her mom, wife, and sister. However, the role she relished most was one she got later in life, that of nunnie to her precious grand-daughter, Ava.
It is often said that with large families there is one person who acts as their glue. Our big, beautiful, and unapologetically loud family lost theirs on September 27, 2022.
A funeral service for Amrik will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, British Columbia V8Y1B4.
