Denny was born June 10, 1939, in Frenchtown, Ohio to the late Pauline (Barga) and Carl J Subler. In addition to his parents, Denny was also preceded in death by a brother, Steve Subler; brothers-in-law, Hal Richters and David Baron; and a nephew, Curt Subler.
Denny is survived by his wife, Nancy A Subler; daughters, Rachel (Eric) Wolfe and Ann-Marie (Doug) Kurtz; son, Fr. Carl Subler; grandchildren, Nicole & Noah Kurtz and Olson & Andrew Wolfe; brothers, Tom (Nancy) Subler & Mark (Jolene) Subler; sisters, Marilyn Richters, Kay (Darryl) Sandri & Linda (Chuck) Borchers; sisters-in-law, Charlene Subler, Devone Baron and Linda (Bucky) Gonya; step-mother, Krista Subler-Boellke; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Denny graduated from Versailles High School in 1957 then enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Following the Marines, he drove a truck for Carl Subler Trucking (CSTI). In 1964 he moved to the great state of Maine to run the CSTI terminal there. He met Nancy Davis and they were married on August 30, 1969. In 1978 he brought his family back to Versailles where he continued working in the trucking business, both for CSTI and later himself. In the early 90’s he changed direction and began selling Long Term Care Insurance. His success as a salesman enabled him to travel the world with Nancy and they enjoyed many trips to Europe and Asia. He never really retired but did slow down enough to have time to spend with his grandchildren and develop his motorcycle hobby. He loved to ride and managed to put thousands of miles on three different motorcycles driving them across the country, from Seattle to the East coast and up through Maine. He was contemplating a trip to Alaska when he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma last fall.
Special thanks to the staff at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus OH; the staff of Village Green Nursing Home in Greenville for their excellent care; and especially to Lillian Bruns and her family for the extraordinary support and help they gave the family during Denny’s treatment in Columbus and afterwards. Words cannot express how thankful we are for your friendship and selflessness.
