Samuel Franz

Sam was very proud of having served as a Paratrooper in the Korean War, and was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a resident of Vernon for over 45 years, and was a member of the Vernon Kennel Club.

Sam was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joey, on Jan. 7, 2012. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by children: Karen (Darryl) Sochan, Bev (Lawrence) Ridley, Melvin (Doris) Rookes, Everett (Pat) Rookes, David (Gail) Rookes, Charles, Bill (Debbie), 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family members.

The family wish to express their appreciation to the incredible staff at Creekside Landing, and to the dedicated and caring nursing staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Sam to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.

A gathering to celebrate Sam’s life will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 250-542-0155.
