It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Ray in Vernon, BC on June 12, 2018 at the age of 79.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Grace, son Rick (Deb), daughter Joanne (Bob), grandchildren Blair, Tanya (David) and Terry (Madison), great grandsons William and Bentley, brother Bob and sister Pat, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family memers. Ray was predeceased by his parents Wink and Connie, brothers Bill, Len, and Dan, and sisters Mickie and Tootie.
Ray was born in Pine Glen, New Brunswick and came to British Columbia in 1955. He worked for CNR for fourteen years as a section machine operator. In 1969, he changed his profession to a truck driver until his retirement. The highlight of his retirement was driving with Grace across Canada to Cape Spears, Newfoundland.
Ray enjoyed the outdoors and attending car shows with his 1966 Galaxie Convertible. He had been a member of the Vernon Fish and Game Club, Vernon Horseshoe Club, Vernon Snowmobile Club, and Spa Hills Snowmobile Club.
His love of cars saw him involved in stock car racing at Tillicum, as well as being a member of the Vernon Vintage Car Club and the Vernon Cam Jammers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Ray’s memory to the charity of your choice.
Following Ray’s wishes, the family will have a private service celebrating his life at a later date.
