November 2nd, 1934 – October 26th, 2017
The family of Marvin Zwarych is heartbroken to announce his passing at ‘Hamlet at Vernon’ care home on October 26th, 2017. While we mourn his loss, we are so thankful that Marvin is no longer suffering from chronic pain.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lori; step-daughter, Shelley (Darcy) Kupryk-Munday of Kamloops, BC; 2 sons: David (Sharon) Zwarych of Whitby, Ontario and Grant Zwarych of Peterborough, Ontario; 2 daughters: Fay Shaw of Riverside, California and Lynn Jagru of Barrie, Ontario; the mother of their 4 children, Vivian Zwarych of Vernon, BC; sister, Rose (Len) Baran of Vernon, BC; 7 grandchildren: Cohen Munday of Kamloops, BC, Prea (Fenol) Zwarych of Ottawa, Ontario, Tequilan Zwarych of Whitby, Ontario, Kori Zwarych of Peterborough, Ontario, Brett and Tyler Jagru of Barrie, Ontario, and Britnee Shaw of Riverside, California; and several nieces, nephews and extended families. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Alma Jantz of Winfield, BC; 2 brothers-in-law: Brian (Linda) Jantz of Summerland, BC and Les (Lori) Jantz of Osoyoos, BC, and their extended families. He was predeceased by his parents, Teresa and John Zwarych; 2 sisters: Gloria Zwarych and Helen Voykin; and brother-in-law, Alex Voykin.
He will be missed by his loving puppy, Misty. They had a very special bond and every visit Misty also brought smiles to the other residents’ and staff’s faces.
Marvin graduated school at Armstrong High School’s Class of 1952. He went to Vancouver Vocational School and became a Heavy Duty Mechanic and worked for Galbraiths and the Department of Highways. He then started his own business of “Marvin’s Cabinets” and his workmanship is in many kitchens and buildings in Vernon and the Okanagan. He strived for perfection and his workshop was his pride and joy.
Marvin bowled for 55 years and loved the Sport of 5 Pin Bowling. He cherished all the friendships made through bowling on 2 leagues and many yearly tournaments. He served on several executives of the Vernon Five Pin Bowling Association. He also loved dancing to country music.
We are forever grateful to Dr.Healey for his care and compassion to Marvin over the years, the nursing staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital 3 North, and for the past 5 weeks, all the loving care given by all the staff, nurses and care aids at ‘Hamlet at Vernon” care home. Thank you to all.
