Marie Irene Bourgeois

Irene was born in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan on January 16, 1927, the 13th of 14 children. Irene married Claude Bourgeois on January 22, 1947. In 1966 the family moved to Fraser Lake. Claude worked at Endako Mine and Irene taught french to the kindergarten to grade 7 classes. In 1998 Irene moved to Merritt. She especially treasured the time spent with 3 of her sisters. In spring of 2015 Irene moved to Vernon and was happy to be near family.

She leaves her children Laura (Greg), Roger (Lynn), Jerry, Rita (Joe), Denise and Paul (Renata). She leaves her cherished grandchildren Tania, Andy, Shawn, Carrie, James,Youssef, Lisa, Della, Wayne, Darren, Julian, Joe, David, Taylor and Paige. She also leaves her great grandchildren Shiane, Dani, Cayle, Cassidy, Justin, Joel, Jordan, Adam, Camryn, Beth, Danielle, Dylan, Declan, Nick, Jacob, Halle, Mattie, Trinity, Lettie; also great great granddaughter Sophie and great great grandson John.

Irene will be remembered as a kind, generous and thoughtful person. She will be fondly remembered by the many children she taught as "Madame Bourgeois".
