Les will lovingly be remembered by his cherished family: Sabreena (Ann) Evans, Ariana (Ryan) Herman, and grandchildren Sheridyn Herman and Zach Herman; as well as extended family and many incredible friends.
Born and raised in Nelson, BC, Les had a wonderful, memorable childhood in the Kootenays where he made many lifelong friends. He cherished these friendships very dearly, especially in his last few years.
Les worked hard throughout his life, eventually making his way to Alberta in search of opportunities in the Oil & Gas industry. He attended and graduated from SAIT in 1967 with a Diploma in Business Administration and began his professional career shortly thereafter. He joined the Petroleum Industry Training Service where he spent several fulfilling and impactful years; all while getting married and building his family. In his younger days Les was an avid racquetball player & instructor, enjoyed recreational hockey, gardening, and of course, happy hour.
Anyone who knows Les, knows he was a proud, private man who spent his retirement both travelling and building a beautiful home and garden in Ashton Creek, the area where his great-grandfather had settled more than 150 years before.
Les was predeceased by his parents Eldred and Ferne Evans, as well as his two elder sisters Doreen Olecko & Norma Hlina.
Les’ family would like to thank Richard & Danika Haak, Taryn & Rick Pue, as well as Dr. Carmen Larsen and the entire team at the Vernon Jubilee hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care for their father this past while.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation (https://www.vjhfoundation.org/), mailed or dropped off in person at the VJHF office located at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, or by mail at 2101 32nd Street, Vernon BC, V1T 5L2.
A private celebration of life for Les will be arranged and communicated at a later date.
