Kelsey Leigh Machnau (Surkan)
(1968-2016)
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Kelsey at the age of 47 on July 6th, 2016.
Raised in Vernon, Kelsey left for Calgary after high school where she worked in banking, law and finally as a counsellor at the Calgary Distress Centre. Last October she and her husband, Delton, returned to her hometown of Vernon to the overjoyed delight of her family and thus also fulfilling her life-long wish of returning to the Okanagan. Kelsey had an incredible talent for cooking and baking which was always greatly appreciated and quickly devoured by her family. She will be enormously missed and forever remembered for her loving kindness, generous heart and caring personality. Let us never forget her infectious laugh !l
Kelsey was predeceased by her brother Randall, grandfather Jack Allan, grandparents Nick and Mary Surkan. She is survived by her loving husband Delton Machnau, father Glen Surkan (Marnee), mother Marlene Stevenson (Andrew), sisters Jennifer Surkan and Krista Jackson (JD), brother Justin Stevenson, sister-in-law Karin Machnau, grandmother Phyllis Allan, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11th, 2016 at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, it would make Kelsey very happy to know that donations were made to the Vernon SPCA.
