Freda passed away December 16 at Parkview Place in Enderby, B.C.. Freda was married to Ted Gardner for almost 50 years. After Ted died, Freda met and married Neil Smith who died in 2018. Freda is survived by her two daughters, Jean (Tom) and Gail (Terry), 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Freda was born in Webb, Saskatchewan on May 12, 1925. When she was a young girl her family moved to Victoria. Freda helped Ted run the family delicatessen for many years. After they sold the business they continued to make and sell ready-to-bake pastry from their home.
Freda liked to play golf and bridge and also enjoyed sewing and making crafts. Freda supported her daughters’ many activities, taking on duties as a Girl Guide Leader, chaperoning at young peoples' activities and attending dancing and skating practices and events, always stepping up to help.
We have many happy memories of family vacations at Parksville, hiking to beaches at Port Renfrew and picnics and swimming at the parks around Victoria.
