Ed was born in Dysart, Saskatchewan. He moved to Trail where he married his loving wife Eileen on September 15, 1946. They moved to Nelson in 1948 where both sons were born. There he worked as a mechanic. In 1954 they settled in Kimberly where he was co-owner of Kimberley Motors. Later they relocated to Vernon in 1970 where he worked until retirement at Vernon Motors.
