Warren was an only child born to Maurice and Doris Glaser on February 16, 1937 in San Francisco, CA. Warren is survived by his four children, Marianne Glaser Grisbeck of AZ, George Warren Glaser of MI, David Carl Glaser of Ventura, CA and Annamarie Glaser Keefover of Ojai, CA as well as five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Warren was a long time resident of Ventura county. He attended Nordhoff High School in Ojai, Ventura Community College and University California Santa Barbara. He also served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years.
He began his teaching career at Isabell Junior High School in Santa Paula, CA. Warren taught at Nordhoff High School for 25 years, during his tenure at Nordhoff he taught a variety of courses from art, aquatics, history and psychology classes. He also coached the water polo and swim teams.
Warren taught swimming, SCUBA diving, surfing, and seasonally lifeguarded for 28 years. He started the junior lifeguard program at Ventura State Beach. Through the years Warren took youth groups on various bicycling, canoeing, backpacking and camping trips.
After retiring from Nordhoff High School in 1993, Warren stayed active with teaching, mentoring and volunteering. He continued with his business called OAARS (Outdoor And Aquatic Recreation Specialists). He was one of the first kayak guides to the Channel Islands. Warren taught part time at Ventura College, volunteered for the Channel Islands Naturalist Corps and Volunteered at the Saticoy Veteran’s home.
Warren loved the Lord and shared his love with others through the Ecumenical Disabilities fellowship. Many lives were touched by Warren; he will be missed by those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the Channel Islands National Park Visitors Center 1901 Spinnaker Drive Ventura, CA 93001 on Saturday July 2, 2016 at 5:30pm. A potluck reception will follow the service.
