Ronald Steven Fink

January 24, 1955 to July 10, 2011

Ron Fink, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away on July 10, 2011 in Beverly Hills, CA of complications due to heart failure.

Born on Jan. 24, 1955 in Los Angeles, Ron was the youngest of three sons born to Hymen and Betty Fink. In 1978, Ron married Kathryn (Kathy) Eberhardt and lived in Camarillo, CA where they raised their two children.

Ron lived a life filled with music. He wrote, composed and published educational musicals for children with his writing partner John Heath. Ron’s plays are being performed around the country and often at local schools. Ron enjoyed the opportunity to watch the student performances and see them learn about math, science, history and language arts through music and lyrics.

When he wasn’t writing children’s plays, Ron would play and write music on his own or with family and friends, and was a member of various bands including a Klezmer band with Kathy. Many gatherings at the Fink house would end up with everyone joining in a sing-a-long while Ron played his piano.

Ron was an active member of the congregation at Temple Beth Torah in Ventura, CA where he was also a long-time musician. Ron’s hobbies included cooking, gardening, hiking and golf.

Ron is preceded in death by his father. Ron is survived by his wife Kathy; daughter Anna and her fiance Sam Pow of Los Angeles; son Joseph and his girlfriend Meg Bashwiner of New York, NY; mother Betty of Camarillo; brothers Fred Fink (June) of Shell Beach, CA and Stan Fink (Lisa) of Diamond Bar, CA; and, sister-in-laws Judy Davis (David) of Camarillo and Linda Edwards (William) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Please join the family for services at Temple Beth Torah in Ventura on Tues., July 12 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. A Shiva Minyan will be take place7pm at Temple Beth Torah.
