Robert Castaneda

Robert (Bobby) was born in El Paso, Texas on August 26, 1947. He moved to Oxnard in 1959 with his mother Magdalena Castaneda and five brothers; Stanley (Bobbie), Frank (Diane), Ruben (preceded in death) and Ray (Martha), and three sisters; Irene Castaneda (preceded in death), Norma Ladwig (Robert) and Yolanda Castaneda.

Growing up in the El Rio area, he had a great love for life and was very adventurous. Bobby was a boy scout, loved all sports, especially baseball and had a great affection for his family.

Shortly after graduation from Rio Mesa High School, Bobby began working in the flower distribution business and worked as a supervisor for California Flower Growers. His true passion was in old car restoration, which lead him into a life-long profession of automobile body repair in his own business, Bob's Body Affair.

Bobby is survived by daughter, Kim Castaneda of Oxnard; son, Shaun of Oxnard; eight grandchildren, Brittney, Rachelle, Mariah, Sydney, Robert, Madison, Cameron and Aubrey; and “Willie” his Border Collie of 14 years, who was his loyal companion

Bobby was a special person who always had a smile on his face and a good sense of humor. He touched so many lives with his generosity and compassion. He will be missed, but will always, be remembered in our hearts.

“May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, And the rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, May god hold you in the palm of His hand.”

We would like to thank the ICU staff at St. Johns Hospital for all the care and support of Bobby. Very special thank you for the care and thoughtfulness, Dr. Richard Rothschild gave to our brother.

A memorial mass will be held at San Buenaventura Mission, 211 East Main Street, in Ventura, on Friday, June 3, 2016, at 10:00 am, followed by burial at Santa Clara Cemetery, in Oxnard, CA.
