Robert Martin Marple, 91, a native of Oxnard, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014. He was born May 28, 1923, to Otto Perl Marple and Lucinda Elizabeth (Welch) Marple. Bob graduated from Oxnard High School, class of 1941.
During WWII, he served in the Army’s 391st Infantry Regiment and participated in the Occupation of Japan. Bob returned to Oxnard where he married Lois Flannery and began his 35 year career with the City of Oxnard as a Survey Party Chief. Bob and his family enjoyed traveling, RVing and vacationing in the Kernville, Calif. area.
Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois; son, Kevin (Debbie) Marple; daughter, Karen (Woody)Woodruff; grandchildren, Cory Marple, Charles (Yvonne) Woodruff, David (Jennifer) Woodruff; great grandchildren, Emily and Jacob Woodruff, all of Ventura County. He is also survived by his aunt, Barbara Bateman, of Palo Alto; and niece, Christine Fullerton, of Hemet.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Ventura Convalescent Hospital.
Services for Bob will take place in the Chapel at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura, on Friday, September 12, 2014, 1:30 pm, with The Reverend Jonathan Mulford officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the 1st Memorial Honor Detail.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
