Rex was born in York. NE, Oct. 1935 to Rollin and Lottie Bricker. Grew up in Lincoln, NE. Came to California in 1963 with a wife and two children, Jerry and Julie. Later divorced. He was a newspaper printer at various newspapers from 1958 to 1974, including the Oxnard Press-Courier. Married Jeanne Ikenberry Jones in 1977, his lifetime love. Became a realtor in 1974, later earning his broker's license. Went on to be a Vice-President at Santa Paula S&L, moving to Fannie Mae in 1993. Held several management positions at Fannie Mae, the last one being as a Field Supervisor for the Western REQ region. Retired in 2003.After retirement, he and Jeanne enjoyed four years on the road with their beloved Bonnie dog, Rving it, visiting family and friends and seeing this incredibly beautiful country and meeting its people. When Jeanne became ill, he became a self-sacrificing, loving caregiver for her for 4 years.
Rex has collected many fans, who all love him and think the world of him. He was our family Patriarch, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend, brother, mentor, and counselor. Jeanne's heart of her heart. Rex is preceded in death by mother, father and daughter Julie.A faithful follower of our Lord Jesus Christ:, Rex has stated, "I am a believing Christian and death is only the beginning of a new life with Christ for me." Survivors include wife Jeanne Bricker; son. Jerry Bricker, AZ; brother Alan Bricker (Pam), CO: step daughters Julie Vonesh (Jay), CO and Janel Kirby (Jon), CA; son-in love Buzz Little (Karen); grandchildren Nicole Little, CA; Jennifer Freitas (Daniel) CA; Dustin Bricker, NY; brother-in-love Richard Ikenberry, NE: step-grandchildren Amber, Alisha, Tanner, Abigail and Trent Kirby; Jessica and Janae Vonesh.; great-granddaughter lsla Freitas.
A life celebration will be at Coastline Bible Church, 426 S. Mills Rd., Ventura; Wednesday, September 4. at 11 am. Interment to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
