Peggy Martin, age 86, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011. She passed at Ventura Community Memorial Hospital peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 31, 1924, to Elmer and Shirley Diefenbaugh in Litchfield, Nebraska. She had been a resident of Ventura County for 57 years. Peggy was a bookkeeper for many years and finished her career retiring from the county of Ventura's Fraud Department in 1994.
Her family is a little world created by love and brought together by Peggy. She was devoted and straight to the point. Peggy was an inspiration to her children and her lessons of life helped them become the people they are today. Everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her knew they were blessed with her fantastic sense of humor and kind nature. Peggy was very close to her devoted companion "Kali", neighbors and friends. She lived life to the fullest and passed with no regrets.
Peggy was extremely humble as she placed the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments in life, big or small they were seen through her eyes with loving praise. There is so much more to honor in our mother's passing and we are a bit overwhelmed to find the words, simply put she will be missed by all but will live in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Shinn; daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Dennis Jackson; son and daughter-in-law John and Sherrice Weeces; grandchildren, Tyson, Alyson, Christopher and Jacob; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Lois Diefenbaugh; in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Peggy and her family wish to express thanks to those who provided care and comfort during her time of need, Drs. Greaney, Swerdlin, Patel and Pankratz. A special and heartfelt thanks from the family goes out to the palliative care unit as well as the amazing 6th and 4th floor nurses at Community Memorial Hosptial.
Services will take place Monday, December 19, 2011, 10:00 A.M. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.
