Lois was born August 28, 1916, in Fillmore. She was the youngest child of Nellie Viola Shidler and Franklin Thomas Arundell. The Arundell family were pioneers who established their homestead in Fillmore around 1850. Lois graduated from Fillmore High School.
Lois married Jim Sims in 1936. She was employed by a local doctor and then worked at Camarillo State Hospital, before she retired to become a homemaker. Lois was an excellent cook and baker. She and Jim had a passion for gardening, and loved to show off and share their produce.
After Jim retired from Point Mugu, he and Lois traveled around the United States. They enjoyed camping and fishing and spent time around Pismo, Lake Isabella and Shaver Lake.
Lois was preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 71 years, her daughter, Debra; sister, Ruth Bryce and brother, Paul Arundell.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Leroy Kee of Ojai, grandchildren and the spouses, Mike and Mary Jo Kee, Edie and Jeff Palmer, Glen and Amy Kee; great grandchildren, Megan, Chelsea, Ryan and Delaney Kee all of Oregon; niece Shanna Bryce of Visalia.
The family wishes to thank The Villa at Ojai and Livingston Memorial Nursing and Hospice for Lois’s excellent care. A special thanks to Dr. Petroff for her care and compassion.
Private burial has taken place at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
