Karen L. Hamilton, 57, passed away after a valiant struggle with cancer at home in Ventura on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 with her parents by her side. She was born on January 2, 1955 in Ventura and had been a resident for most of her life. She went to local schools, graduating from Buena High School in 1973 and went to Ventura College, graduating in 1976 with an associate’s degree in psychology. She also attended U.C. Santa Barbara for a short while before employment at Southern Pacific Milling Co. advancing to the position of computer analyst. After 17 with Southern Pacific Milling she accepted a position with Riverside Cement Co. and moved to Diamond Bar. While working there she developed several integrated systems and made major accomplishments in this field. Three years later she opened her own computer consulting firm and continued to follow this technology to the very end.
She received excellent care from the doctors and staff at the Ventura County Medical Center Palliative Care Group and from the Roze Room Hospice. She made new friends and continually thanked them for their help and care.
She was a former member of the Grace Baptist Church and often said she felt like she grew up there.
Karen is survived by her parents, Bill and Mildred Hamilton; aunt, Virginia Gambil of Jonesboro, AR; dearly loved cousin, Norma Lee Brice of Pine, AZ and numerous other cousins and extended family.
There will be a funeral service 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Dr., Ventura, CA. 642-8134. Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
