Kaaren Kay Smith

Kaaren “Kay” Smith, 75, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 5, 2017, in Ventura, California. She was born April 16, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nevada. After graduating from high school Kay jumped right into the work force, eventually stepping into the legal field as a secretary for various law firms. Living for a time in Bakersfield, CA, Kay moved to Ventura in 1961.

Ventura, CA, is exactly where Kay needed to be though, meeting the love of her life, Barrett, in January, 1967. They were married only four months after, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Kay is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Poe; step-father, Carroll Poe; and her father, Marion Bell. She is survived by her loving husband, Barret Smith, daughters, Caron Smith, and Kelly Karandang; granddaughter, Kayla Pearson; grandsons, Jadon Karandang, and Jordan Karandang; great granddaughter, Kassidee Wills; step sister, Janis Zicman; and step niece, Jackie Frye.

Our wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend will be greatly missed.
