Joyce Gullery, 88, of Ventura, died Wednesday, July 22, 2013, at her residence following a brief illness. Mrs. Gullery was born February 16, 1925, in London, England. She served in the British Royal Army during World War II.
In 1948, Joyce and her husband, Gerry Gullery, moved to the United States locating in Chicago where she raised her family for 36 years. Upon Gerry’s retirement in 1984, they relocated to Ventura County where they resided for the past 29 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Ventura.
She is survived by her son, Leslie Gullery of Canyon Country; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joann Gullery of Morgan Hill; grandchildren, Brian and Angie Wodarski, Dawn and Patrick Brindle, Kelly Reardon, Ryan and Ryan Speer, Megan and Chad Swanlund, Sean Gullery, and Kathleen Gullery; great grandsons, Devin and Colin Wodarski, Jack and Quinn Brindle , Zachary, Alexander and Brady Reardon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gerard "Gerry" James Gullery, daughter, Maureen Wodarski, and her great grandson, Nate Brindle.
Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, July 26, 2013, 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Road, Ventura, with the Reverend Alex Amayun officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Livingston Memorial Hospice, 1996 Eastman Ave., Suite 101, Ventura, CA 93003.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
