John N. “Bud” Dryden, 101, born April 8, 1910 in Mattoon, Illinois to Albert and Margaret Dryden passed away on November 27, 2011 in Carson City, Nevada. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald, and wife of 52 years Madeline. He is survived by his son Robert and daughter-in-law Marge, daughter Barbara and son-in-law Ed Cook, grandchildren Tina Hall, Sherri Vondrak and Thomas Cook, and seven great grandchildren. John was a longtime Ventura resident, and he moved to Carson City, Nevada in 1998 to live with his daughter Barbara. John was a 56 year member of the Free and Accepted Masons of California, and Past Master of San Buenaventura Lodge #214, member of the Ventura County Scottish Rite Bodies and Al Malaikah Shriners. John served on the Ventura County Grand Jury from 1990 to 1991. John was employed at Prosser’s Bakery in Ventura for 25 years and retired as a Teamsters Union official of Local #186 in 1976.
Funeral services will be held at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend E. Wayne Kempton will be officiating also participating will be Channel Islands Masonic Lodge, #214, F.&A.M. Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura. In lieu of flowers, John’s family has requested that donations be made in his honor to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, which can be made online at www.donate2shc.org.
