James Umholtz, 79, of Ventura, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, following a lengthy illness of cancer. Mr. Umholtz was born October 28, 1930, in Charleston, Arkansas to Jimmie and Leinna Umholtz. He had had been a resident of Ventura for 53 years. Jim was a World War II Navy Veteran and had been a long distance truck driver for most of his life, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Ventura. He enjoyed golfing as well as dancing and watching old westerns.
Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, Roberta “Sandy” Umholtz of Ventura; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Lynn and Greg Hopewell of Irvine, Texas, Kathy Dee and Danny Couture of Grande Prairie Texas; step-daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Alan Loe of Ventura; brothers, Leon, John, Harold, Earl and Tommy; sisters, Dorothy, Agnes and Cindy; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Kerry Dale Umholtz.
Visitation will take place Monday, September 20, 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura
Services will take place Tuesday, September 21, 11:00 A.M. at the First Assembly of God Church, 346 North Kimball Road, Ventura, with Pastor Jim Deck officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Burial will be in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
