Jim was born on May 17, 1924 in Ava, Illinois. Jim served as Chief in the United States Navy where he retired after 22 years of service. Following retirement, Jim moved to the City of Ventura with his wife Dottie and son Jeffrey where he began a career with the City of Ventura and eventually became the Superintendant of the streets division for the city, retiring in 1986 after 22 years of service. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and vowed that he couldn’t start another career because he wouldn’t be able to put in another 22 years of service in another career.
Jim enjoyed the family tradition of breakfast every Saturday with his wife, son and grandson. He also enjoyed golf, watching sports and playing cards with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Nettie Easterly and his daughter-in-law Barbara Easterly. Jim will be missed by his wife, Dottie; son, Jeff Easterly; his grandson Bryan and his wife Jessica Easterly.
