George was born January 6, 1926, in Oakland, California to Edward Wilton Lindsey and Helen Claire McNerney Lindsey. George developed an early love of engineering while spending time at his father’s cannery in Oakland. In 1944, at the height of World War II, he enlisted in the United States Navy. His aircrew training took him to bases in California, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Florida.
While training in Oklahoma, George met and married his life mate, Helen D. “Dottie” Williams. They were married for over 66 years until separated by his death.
Following the war, George returned to Oakland where he worked at the Alameda Naval Air Station, while also attending the University of California at Berkeley. In 1959, he moved his family to Ventura and was employed at the Pacific Missile Range, Point Mugu, until his retirement in 1979.
During these years, he also taught Effective Speaking at the Ventura College Evening School as well as for the American Institute of Banking. His great joy during his teaching years was turning close-mouthed introverts into extroverted butterflies.
Club activities include the Knights of Columbus - Council 2498 and the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He held several offices in Chapter 190 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Retired Professional and Business Men’s Club, and the Missile Technology Historical Association.

Lindsey who was killed in the Korean War; his sister, Alexius Adele Lindsey Fischer Ramelli. He was deeply saddened by the death of his son Steven Lindsey in December 1992.
