Gene Arthur Hibberd

Gene Arthur Hibberd, 69, passed away December 1, 2016, peacefully in his home after a year long battle with cancer. He was born January 27, 1947, in Niles, Michigan, graduating from Niles High School in 1965. Gene served in the U.S. Marine Corps, platoon 3025, stationed in San Diego, CA. In 1982, he graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. After returning to Southern California, he began a 31 year career with the City of Ventura, where he worked as a Senior Environmental Compliance Inspector in the waste water division. In 2005, he earned the recognition of Employee of the Year. As a two time business owner, Third World Racing (Niles, Michigan) and Hibberd Computer Systems (Oxnard, CA) Gene was known for his energy and dedication to his passions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William K. Hibberd, Dorothy (Balog) Hibberd; son, Brandon K. Hibberd; and stepson, Larry C. Havemann. Gene is survived by his wife, Deana (Elwood) Hibberd of Oxnard; sons, Rick (Julie) of Owensville, Missouri, Dustin Hibberd of Oxnard; daughter, Rhiannon (James) Yoder of Goshen, Indiana; stepdaughters, Renee Havemann of Glendora, California, Jennifer Havemann of Melbourne, Australia, and Gwendolyn Havemann of Spokane Washington; Brother, Gary (Donna) Hibberd of Saint Joseph, Michigan; aunts, Elizabeth Rayburn of Fort Pierce, Florida, Josephine Syson of Walkerville, Michigan; 4 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, as well as many relatives and lifelong friends.

A Celebraion of Life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017, 2:00 P.M., at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura CA.
