December 8, 1924 – July 5, 2015
Frank C. Davis Jr. passed away peacefully at Moran Manor in Ventura on July 05, 2015.
Frank was born in Denver CO on December 8, 1924, the son of Marion T. Davis and Frank C. Davis Sr., He is survived by his cousins Gary Jones (who visited and communicated with Frank regularly), Richard, Patty, Carol and their extended families, Frank’s parents taught him the importance of living his Catholic religion. They emphasized the importance of his persevering in daily mass, being loyal to his church parish, and devoting his life to Jesus Christ, whose example Frank, throughout his life, would always strive to follow. His love for his parents was exemplified in his caring for them at home during their long-term illnesses
Frank graduated from Regis H.S. a Jesuit H.S. in CO. He earned two Engineering Degrees, a B.S. in Petroleum Refining from Colorado School of Mines and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas University. While in college, he was employed in the oil fields, as a draftsman, a clerk, a warehouseman, and as a survey crew assistant.
.
Frank proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an assistant engineer, and often spoke about experiences working in the engine room of the ship. When he was young he enjoyed gardening, photography, golf, swimming, and bicycle riding. In his senior years he devoted his time to secular Franciscan activities, volunteer church work, reciting and reading his daily prayers, listening to classical music, and going to Mass as often as possible.
Frank learned basic Franciscan philosophy by attending the Franciscan Seminary for 1 ½ years. He was a proud member of the St. Bonaventure Secular Franciscan Order, a fraternity in which he was held in the highest esteem by his fellow members, who were so dear to him. Frank was also a loyal, dedicated long-term parishioner of our Lady of Assumption Church, where he was well known and beloved by treasured friends, including Bea Mahoney, Jerry Diesfeld, Mike Mueller, and so many more.
While he dealt so bravely with many years of challenging health issues, he very much enjoyed and appreciated the prayers & novenas dedicated to him as well as the cards and frequent visits from his church friends.
Frank was an incredibly compassionate, intelligent, devoutly Catholic gentleman whose knowledge of the Catholic Church possibly rivaled that of Pope Francis. He will be missed but never forgotten by family and friends, and will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s name can be made to either Our Lady of Assumption Church in Ventura or to the St. Bonaventure Fraternity Secular Franciscan Order
A memorial mass for Frank will be held at our Lady of Assumption Church in Ventura on Thursday July 9, at 11AM.
