Florence “Flo” Morrow of Oxnard, cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital after an exhausting battle with heart disease. She was 87.
Flo, as she was known by family and friends, was born, Florence Gertrude Jackson on June 7, 1925 in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Florence is survived by her husband of 68 years Charles G. Morrow; daughter, Ellen Worthington (husband Tony); canine companion, Summer of Oxnard; sister, Ruth Michaels; brothers, Edward Jackson and Fred Jackson (wife Esther) of New Jersey; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Chuck of Ridgecrest, California; two brothers; and a sister all of New Jersey.
Florence worked for the State of California for many years and retired from PMTC in Camarillo as a document specialist in 1990. She resided in Oxnard with her family for 45 years.
She will always be loved and remembered by friends and family for her sweet nature and generosity. Flo was a proud American with a great sense of humor who enjoyed travel, current events, movies, and sitting in her back yard on a sunny day with a good book, a cup of coffee and her dog, Summer at her feet.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude and thanks to Dr. R. Rothschild, Dr. K. Dave, Paul Wilson N.P., and the entire staff at Cabrillo Cardiology, Dr. T. Reich, Dr. G. Abergel, SR Suzanne, the nursing staff and care team on 2 North and 4 North for their expertise, compassionate care and kindness.
Very special thanks to Tess, her loving caregiver, companion and friend for the past two years.
At Florence’s request, she was cremated and there will be no services. Donations in her name can be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Ombudsman’s Services of Ventura County or a charity of your choice.
A luncheon in her honor will take place at a later date.
