Emil "Arkie" T. Mahl Jr.

Arkie was born in Ratcliff, Arkansas on July 11, 1939. He was a resident of Ventura County for 55 years, previously owning Buena Roofing, Buena Trucking and currently owing Mahl Ranch.

Arkie enjoyed playing cards and fishing. He played cards at the Players Poker Club on Ventura Ave. for 32 years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Caroline Mahl; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Reggie Lionberger and Betty and Robert Hand of Texas; sons, Steve Mahl and Barry Mahl; daughter, Shellie Karlsen all of Ojai; and daughter-in-law, Sharyn; as well as eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arkie was preceded in death by his father and mother Emil Thomas Mahl, Sr., and Lexalee Mahl, and his son, Thomas Mahl.

Friends are invited to pay respects on Thursday, January 6, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 P.M., Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Rd., Ventura, with Pastor Danny Miller officiating.
