David Pugh, 77, of Ventura, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home. Dave was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 10, 1935 to William and Grace Pugh. He was the sixth of nine children. Dave had been a Ventura County resident for 30 years.
He moved to Sacramento as a teenager. After serving in the Marines for three years, Dave attended Sacramento College. His career started with a worker’s compensation insurance company in Los Angeles. It was there where he met his wife Elmerina.
In the early 80’s Dave decided to make income tax preparation his full time career. He moved to Ventura in 1983. Dave loved his job and loved teasing his clients with his dry sense of humor. For many years Dave was on the Ventura College Foundation Board and served as chairman for a few of those years.
Dave leaves behind his wife Elmerina of 50 years; daughters, Tracy Carlton and Tricia Pugh-Covarrubias (Rene); “the loves of his life” his grandchildren, Tristan Carlton, Truman Carlton, William Miller, Nichole Miller (Joe), and Cameron Miller, all residing in Ventura; sister, Mary Jane Wheeldon (George) of Shingle Springs; brother, Tom of Phoenix, AZ, brothers-in-law; William Morton (Pat) of Moorpark and Lee Reams of Calabasas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the Spa Nursing staff at Community Memorial Hospital for taking such good care of Dave on his bi-weekly visits.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, 2:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura with the Reverend Dan Hull officiating. The United States Marine Corps will render military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ventura College Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, Ventura.
