She leaves behind her husband, Manuel Lopez, Jr.; sons, Andrew Lopez, Matthew Lopez, and Brandon Banales; daughter, Amanda Lopez; her
mother, Rosa Smith; and brother, Sergio Torres.
Cristina was born on January 25, 1969, in Port Hueneme, California to father, Gregorio Torres, and mother, Rosa Smith. She grew up in a loving family with her only brother, Sergio Torres. Cristina considered her cousins to be like sisters to her and enjoyed spending time with them at their mom's, Maria Ramos' home.
She graduated from Rio Mesa high school. Cristina completed her schooling to become a dental assistant where she worked at for many years, before commencing work with the County of Ventura.
Cristina had a giving heart who loved children especially Little Robert Zamora and did whatever she could to help others before helping herself.
Cristina was diagnosed with brain cancer in July 2014; she remained dedicated to all her family and was dedicated to fighting her illness and remained that sassy, brave, strong woman even throughout her final months.
The family would like to recognize UCLA’s and Ventura County Medical Center’s medical staff, nurse and doctors for the attentive treatment, excellent service, loving care and for never giving up on Cristina. We are truly grateful.
A prayer vigil for Cristina will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, 6:00 p.m., at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
